my favorite Jersey Girl!

Yay! I'm so excited. My good friend Monica (and avid of fan of my silly little blog) is hanging out with me ALL WEEKEND! She is such a sweetheart.

AND she sends presents. This is just a taste of the super cute box of jewels she sent over.

It's emails like this that make my day:
":-)  Have to keep my Polish Princesses sparkling!"

Next stop BFFtown!

'Dark Side of the Forest' by Terry Fan

I'm sort of currently obsessed with all things Star Wars right now.
More cool prints by Mr Fan here.

It's Fashion Week!

I was invited to last night's Gen Art Fashion Show but couldn't make it.
BUT my super awesome friend who did go, sent in these photos.

Green Mailboxes?

I have been wondering about these for a while now, too. When I moved here I even walked all the way around one, like a jack ass looking for the slot to throw my mail into, clearly with no success. Than finally last week, I saw the one by the front of my building open with our mail lady digging through it for more mail. I think it's basically a USPS locker to store mail to be delivered into, so their bundles don't get to full. BORING. Bring on the conspiracies Gothamist!

Dinner at Aggie's last week...

Aggie was sweet enough to make dinner last week. She is super Martha Stewart-ish, so of course I had to take a pic. Oh, and we enjoyed a ridiculous episode of The Kardashians.
My kind of night.

New ART

As you were told about here, I bought some real ART. I picked it up on Sunday and last night finally put it up. Fancy!!!

Its a spin off of one of Banksy's famous street art pieces:

LACMA

Jessica hit up LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art) this past weekend and sent me some of her cool pics. I had to share. They are too cute!

Happy (Chinese) New Year!

Joy and I had the full intention of checking out Chinatown's Chinese New Year Parade, but we got there too late and missed it. We were super bummed. We ended up wandering around for a little bit, checking out the weird foods in the street grocery shops and avoiding all the little kids that were running rampant.
And it was a gorgeous day.
The aftermath....

This was some kind of almond croissant. It didn't taste bad, just weird. And it had some kind of semi sweet jelly inside and poppy seeds on top. But, it only cost $0.60 so I was ok with taking a bite and tossing it.

Joy took this pic of a wandering dragon. This is about as much celebration as we wittnessed.

I call this pictire "Squinty"

new hair

I got my hair done on Saturday. Its a dark mousy ish blonde on top, with my platinum ends. I'm hoping to be able to grow my hair without having to touch up my roots for a few months. All the bleach and lightening is making it impossible to grow my hair past my collarbone. I've been loving the ombre look that Lauren Conrad and Drew Barrymore are rocking these day, so here goes.

So far, I haven't had a panic attack that I'm not blonde.

A fun Sunday....

The day started off great (and 16*), a few of us met up for brunch at Pulino's, where I was super excited to try the breakfast pizza. YUMMY! We started the meal off with coffee and their delicious almond croissants and than had our dishes. Such a great idea.

Joy's baked eggs
I need to try this 'Pork Slap' beer!

On our way to the next stop we noticed that Orchard was blocked off for some reason, and we decided to take full advantage of the gorgeous day and the big empty street by baptizing it with cart wheels.

This was also the day that I realized Joy and I are meant to be friends forever. I can pretty much get this girl to do anything, and that makes me love her the most.

Our next stop was the Krause Gallery for the super awesome 'Hanksy' exhibit. Hanksy is a Lower East Side street artist who's art mimics Banksy, the notorious London street artist, but with a Tom Hanks twist. Of course this perfectly summarizes my weird sense of humor, so I was all about it. I even bought a piece, which now makes me an art collector. How exciting! I'm almost a grown up! (I'll send pictures of what I bought after I pick it up)

Here are a few of the items on display at the gallery:

Tom Hanks even sent in a note.
Some other fun art at the gallery:
This piece is made of cow's blood pressurized on Plexiglas.
weird/gross/amazing

I call this, the VMA, since it looks like the MTV Moonman Award.

Afterwards, we stopped by The Angelica Theatre to see The Artist, which needless to say, is an amazing film that everyone needs to go see. And headed home.
