I have come to realize that although this town forces men and women to be independent and forward thinking, chivalry is not dead. What I mean is that there are still some traditional acts that I see and am apart of everyday. Guys open doors for me all the time. And a simple smile and thank you, is absolutely timeless, as well as the fact that, I have made a few friends this way. Now I am completely, a girl of today and don't expect things to just happen for me. That's why this is always such a surprise. And it really is a refreshing surprise, when all I hear is how awful people here are, which is completely not true! Except for the time I was splashed with water when a cab drove too close to the sidewalk when it was raining one evening, i haven't had anything really bad happen.
