Macy's Herald Square

It's no secret the Macy's in Herald Square is one of my favorite stores in Manhattan. Mostly because its a one stop shop and with their credit card discounts and super saver coupons I get in the mail weekly, I don't think I have ever paid full price for any single item in the store. When I got this email about the random space underneath the big sign actually be used and not owned by Macy's through a leasing agreement for the signage, I thought I had to share. There are a few random Macy's facts I love so I'm just going to list them below:
  • Isidor Straus—co-owner with brother Nathan of R.H. Macy & Co.—lost her life during the Titanic tragedy.
  • The red star in the Macy's logo was taken from a tattoo on founder R.H. Macy's hand- one he got as a teenager while working on a Nantucket whaling ship.
